04 incentives?

Just curious as to when everyone feels Ford will come out with incentives (cash not rates) on the 04? From all the posts I have seen here, the only people taking delivery of new trucks are those who had one on order. Has anyone purchased one from dealer inventory? From personal experience, my "local" (50 miles away) dealer has had two in stock for about 3 weeks that haven't moved. This seems odd to me for such a highly anticipated vehicle. Maybe not, though. I just have to believe that incentives can't be too far away.

I'm thinking (hoping) that once everybody (Ford, GM, Dodge) gets rid of the remaining 03s then they'll start pushing the new models more. Also, the new Titan and Tundra are launching in November/December; hopefully that in combination with domestic competition will get the manufacturers to offer some cash back.

Word currently is no incentives and no cheap financing. These 04's have only been on the lots for less than a week here and have been selling well. The best deal going currently seems to be X-Plan, or the employee discounts, if the dealer will sell to you under those plans without a hassle.

You can X-Plan by joining the Experimental Aircraft Association ($40 and you get a neat magazine). I'm sure there are other ways, but www.eaa.org is one way.

It is a terrific truck, expecially the Lariat. If folks drive them it will be hard not to run home and grab the checkbook. As one reviewer wrote - "Ford did not set the bar higher for the competition, Ford ripped the bar out and threw it in a field where the competition is going to have to search for it." This truck is a benchmark.

article on AUTOWEEK.COM said some people who had purchased were told they must wait for delivery. It went on to say that other dealers are not selling them just letting people look to build enthusiasm. Other dealers are still waiting to just get one in.

Forget incentives. I'm surprised we haven't seen dealers asking for premiums.

tough to make a deal on an 04 when dealer can turn around and say, "oh, if you want a deal, you can take that 03 over there. I've got 500 of em to sell...."

When they sell all the 03's they'll roll in the Heritage edition. What a joke. I hope everyone reading this don't fall for that Heritage ploy.

The fine print shows you have to be a member for atleast a year to get special pricing.

Ketch, I think you are off a little. Most people are paying around invoice price for a 2003 model, minus any incentives/rebates they are eligible for. That is in the $7000-10000 below MSRP for said truck. For 2004 models, there are no rebates. So, people are still paying invoice, but only $4-6k below MSRP. Do you really expect people that are in the market for a new truck to all of a sudden pay MSRP which is $10k more for a new model with the same equipment as an '03?? I have news for you, they won't. They can walk next door to the GM or Dodge dealer and pay that $10k less for the same equipment.

It is not up to the dealer to set the price. They can only charge what the market will bear. It is up to us, the market, to decide how much we are willing to pay. If you are willing to pay MSRP for a vehicle, fine. But most people in the last 2 years are not.

APT , I agree with you I was waiting for a 2004 because I thought the 2003 was wimpy looking and needed more power
but bought a 2003 FX4 with 5.4L because with the D plan and incentives I got it for $23000 a big difference in price made it look better to me. That is $5000 less than the hemi ram I was going to buy.
