Ordered a Super Cab Lariat on 7 April, truck built on 7/14, supposed ETA of 7/25.

As of today the dealer is told "unofficially" (one friend to another) that Ford is making "small modifications". No details, no new ETA.

Dealer offered to place a new order which I found surprising.

Opinons?

 

You placed an order in April, the truck was built last month, and now the dealer is considering re-submitting the order? Somebody is not communicating with the fish here. My gut is that the dealer promised you something they shouldn't have, and are negotiating a "special" (by exception) order, OR the dealer erred on the original order, realized it when they were sent the final invoice, and are resubmitting the order you asked for originally. In the former case, your dealer deserves a pat-on-the-back for sticking up for you. In the latter, your patience will be tested.

I bet your dealer messed something up w/ your original order. Either ordered it wrong or didn't order it at all.

 

Wouldn't the dealer give you a VIN number? He might not of ordered it at all. The Trucks only started being built in June sometime. Your dealer isn't telling you the whole story. He most likely forgot (or didn't) order the truck. Put the pressure on him!!!

 

He ran the VIN and the system says:

Vehicle was built 7-17-03, it has not been released for shipping yet. No idea why though.........

You can see I got the VIN # right after ordering. He says he has two other orders in the same situation. Pretty standard order.
I am inclined to believe them. FORD management does not cummunicate as others here have atested to. I am sticking with this order for now.
