Hey Screwbuilder?

Screwbuilder,

You said in an earlier thread that there were 60,000 pre-orders for '04 Super Crews. And you built 10,000 in one month. Does that mean if someone ordered theirs now, they would have to wait 6 months for their vehicle? And of that 60,000, does that include ones just going to dealer lots for sale? You also said that suppliers have come in and said that it could take 2 months to get a part modified. Does that push the timelines back further?

Basically, I just want an ETA for my truck. I ordered it June 27th, but still have no build date. In your professional opinion, will I have it before the end of September?

Do things such as two-tone paint, moonroofs, running boards, etc. really play into delayed timelines? I ordered an XLT SCrew, w/ moonroof, two-tone paint and running boards.

Any insight would be much appreciated. The not knowing is the hardest part of this whole thing. Thanks

Right now we are only at halk of production. Every day we build mre than the previous day un til we reach max production. About 550-600 per shift. Which doing the math is 5000-6000 per week. The extras as you mentioned will not affect the production (taking longer). The 60,000 was the total number of 2004's ordered by dealers. That could be trucks they have orders for and what they want in stock. I would imagine you should get yours by the end of September, but I cannot be sure. I will talk to my forman at work to see if he will run me VIN's to see when a certain truck is going to be built. That might help some people on these boards find out for sure when to expect their trucks. So, if you get your VIN let me know.

Thanks for the info Screwbuilder. I would love to get my VIN number. My dealer gave me the impression that I would get that AFTER I got a build date. Is that usually the case?

Also, you mentioned that the options would not have a bearing on any type of delays. Is that also the case with the trim packages (XLT, FX4, XL, etc)? They're not building FX4 Screws first or anything like that?

No trim packages don't matter. We will get coming down the line, an XLT, XL, FTX, Lariat, XLT, Lariat, FTX, etc. You get my drift.

I primarily lurk on this board but felt compelled to add my sentiments. Thanks for all the insight Screwbuilder. Have yet to order a new truck but I've taken away so much from your posts as well as others.

Screwbuilder,

I sat in a FX4 Supercab yesterday. Since I have a '99 Expedition that I am getting rid of for this truck, I have a question. That vehicle has a power take off (cigarette lighter plug) in the rear of the center console that I use a lot. I noticed that the only one I saw in the FX4 was in the center of the front dash. Is there another one somewhere else that I missed? Specifically, is their a second one in the Lariat SuperCrew?

Thanks
Jim

Cool, I was in one with a center console. Either I missed it or it isn't in the FX4 SuperCab.

Yes the 40/20/40 seats have a 12 volt outlet. I saw it on a XLT super cab.

You have to give me a build date. I will check the day before that. I can't keep checking everyday. Let me know.

Screwbuilder,

Just wondering if I had my VIN and you checked it the day before the build date and it was scheduled, does it have to go to the dealer it was bought from or could I drive it out the gate to the dealer the day it was built? Just curious. I live in Missouri so KC wouldnt be to far to be able to so that.
