STX in So Cal

I just sat in a silver STX 4X2 supercab last night (8-15) at Galpin Ford. They are supposer to be getting more in today.
Exterior
I liked it a lot for being a lower-end model. The doors closed quietly and firmly. The new door handle for the back doors that swing both ways is really cool, easy to access and probablly simplifies production immensely. I liked the look of the truck, it seems bulky and tough, it was parked next to a F250 4X4 when they brought it out for me to look at and it looked just as tough but smoother. The emblem on the tailgate did not bother me that much. It just reminds me of when ford had big emblems on the trucks. The tailgate is huge (because of the 2 inches of extra depth) but my wife had no problem closing it, to me it feels a little lighter than my '03, but it is bigger.
Motor
The engine fired off at a flick of the key. I did not have time to test drive it, I will do that when they get a 5.4 motor. This had a 4.6.
Interior
I am 6'2" and I sat in the back of this thing with the seats nearly all the way back and had room in the back seat. Plus they were way more comfortable, the extra cushoning and seat angle makes a world of difference. The material used on the seats seemed a little cheap, the wife was not impressed with the material (and we all know how important the wife liking the vechicle is to getting the vehicle) I told her the upper models have better fabrics. (I hope) The dash is different and I like it, cannot wait to see the better models. The guage layout seemed to be toooooooo spacious. It was like they had to big of a pod in there for the other models and the STX gets this really basic guage setup. I would like to see the XLT and Lariat guages first. With the door closed it is huge in the cab and you definitely do not feel cramped.
Overall
I liked the truck a lot for being a STX. It is not the one I would buy but it would make an awesome truck to play with. The salesperson is going to call me when they get some other models in. I will be parking an 04 in my stall when they are fully released and I get a good deal. The salesperson also said that the 5.4 with the 3:73 (supercab with 6.5 foot bed) should have the 9500 pound rating. I will be taking mine with the 3:73 gears, thank you. Now the big choice happens, the wife is liking the Screw's more and more and she wants one of them instad of the supercab, So this is where I have to make some difficult decisions, maybe the screw if I get a supercharger for my B-day. I love making deals with her.
Hope everyone enjoys reading this and gets to look at one soon.

Brian

Nice heads up, thanks. My sister is coming in from Dallas this weekend and we're having lunch at Dr. Hogly Wogly's Tyler Texas BBQ on Sunday. That place is like a mile away from Galpin. I guess I know where I'll be having desert.
