Question Bed Length With Gate Down

Hey Guys!
I'm trying to figure out how long the bed will be with the gate down on the '04. I added the bed length to the bed depth: 67"+22.3"=89.3" Does this seem like a good approimation? I don't have a truck, so I don't know how to check this method.

that depends on why you are measuring.

If you need to haul something that is completely contained, you have to factor in the bed extender.

If its something that can hang off the end a couple of inches, such as 4x8 plywood, it doesnt matter.

If you are that worried asbout a couple of inches... move up to the next size bed length.

I think your calculations are off. You say bed length is 67” and then added the bed depth of 22.3”. I believe the bed depth is if your measuring from the bottom of the bed to the top of the fender, so you have length, width and depth, so it looks like your measurements are for a short bed box, 5 ½ feet. I would say you could add 2 feet for the tailgate to be safe which would give you about 7 ½ feet length of the bed with the tailgate down. In other words if you were hauling a 4 foot X 8 foot sheet of plywood then about ½ foot would be sticking out past the tailgate.
