Auto on the floor! a first?
Auto on the floor! a first?
I thought that the new F150 was going to be the first truck ever to have the auto shifter on the floor. However, I just found out about that the frontier from Nissan already has it. Is there something different that I don't know about or did I just misunderstand?
First fullsize. But the nissan's on the floor auto. shifter doesn't really flow between the seats like Ford's does. In the new F150 it's like you are in a car (where the shifter is placed). In the frontier, it's kind of like you are in a van...very forward. But technically, the F-150 is only the first fullsize.
Yes, Ford is the first fullsize pickup truck to put an automatic in the floor consol. The nissan is not even a real truck and shouldn't really be mentioned in the same paragraph as Ford. I guaranatee it is something I'll not do again.
My old 88' f-150 Lariat had a 3 speed in the floor. It used to be a 5 spd. manual, but the guy that had it before me put a big ole' 3 speed auto in it. It was really cool. I could just reach over and shift down to 2nd or 1st whenever I wanted. That tranny mated to the 300-6 cyl was a torque monster.
