2004s spotted

I forgot to tell you all about the 2004s I saw 2 weeks ago while driving home from san diego. There were 4 of them all different colors, all had michigan plates on em. They took me by surprise cause i was driving and looked about 5 cars ahead and saw what looked kinda like a f150 but had a ford emblem in the middle of the tail gate, I was like wtf is that? So of course I sped up to investigate and found it was the 2004. Sorry, but oh my god are they ugly!!! I am just totally confused as to where they are going with the design of the effie. Just my 2 cents.

Seems to be frequent sightings...

Odd considering that they're not even making them yet.... they just a have a few crews over in a corner turning wrenches putting them together....

We'll start seeing a bunch real soon though...

Actually, it's more than a few crews. Kansas City and Norfolk have both been making '04's (in admittedly small, but growing quantities) since Jan/Feb.

To date, the number of completed trucks would be around 1000 - this is an order of magnitude number (+/- 150 to 200).

Not surprising that we're starting to see them out on the road. After all, they're starting to run out of room in the Assembly Plant parking lots!

I posted a comment in another forum back in March where I had seen one in the Norfolk area. Too bad I saw it on the road and not in a parking lot. I would have liked to take a closer look.

There was 3 of them out on I-29 near the Claycomo Missouri (Kansas City Missouri) plant; last Thursday when I was near there on business. I should have pulled them over -- since I was driving a fully equiped crown vic patrol car. (loaner/pool car)-- then again I may not have had a job when I got home!!

FWIW I saw an '04 Driving down 72nd and Parallel in KCK Saturday on my way back from the lake.

It looked like it had some kind of tag on it, it wasn't a 30 day tag. Could of been an "M" plate or a Dealer, couldn't tell.

It was an assembly plant plate.

Sighting

While pumping gas at an Exxon in Providence Forge near Richmond, Va. on June 6th, I was suddenly surrounded by 7 new F150's that had pulled in to gas up. A little overwhelming, to say the least. The one of interest to me was a black FX4 Supercab. The trucks were being reviewed by a group of journalists whose publications name did not ring a bell. They were more than willing to let me poke around in the trucks. Being short on time, I didn't pop the hood or crawl under, but did sit in the drivers seat for a minute. Certainly a departure from the current trucks or any others for that matter. Kinda reminded me of the new Navigator interior, just not as plush. The one negative the struck me was the flat seat bottom. I asked the driver about the comfort and he said it was not great. He did say Ford is still working on a solution for this problem. I currently drive a 2001 Lariat Supercab 4x4 and was bummed that there were no Lariats in the group. The FX4 was decked out pretty well though and I was impressed with what seemed like a roomier back seat. As far as the engine, this guy was no gearhead, but did say that it put him back in his seat when he kicked it down at 70 mph. Leads me to believe that the 3V 5.4 is going to breathe a lot better at high revs. Let's hope we don't lose the low end!
