Diesel 2004 F150???
A friend told me recently that he heard there was going to be an F150 diesel sometime in the future.... I haven't seen mention of it anywhere... was my buddy crazy?? Has anyone heard anything????
Not being able to meet federal emission standards set for LD dieselTrucks is the main reason I've heard. They just can't make them burn clean enough & with Ford strapped for funds, I doubt if (If ever) we'll see them in the near future.
HAPYNZAP I saw a picture of your electric fans and would like to know how you like them and how they perform since you are in a very hot area. i have been thinking about getting them for my truck every little HP increase you can get helps since i tow a boat. Can they be programmed to come on at a certain temp. or what please provide me with all important info you can think of. Feel free to email me if that is easier.

Definite SOTP difference off the line and the clutch fan is heavy. It's nice to not have to push that thing anymore.
I haven't hooked up my AC over-ride wire yet but the fans turn on and run pretty good with just the temperature sensor in the radiator. I haven't tried setting the turn on adjustment on the controller. I'm just going with the factory setting. I'll probably try to fine tune it in the summer. The truck warms up fast and it's interesting that when I park it sometimes the fans will come on and run for 30-60 seconds after shut off to cool off the hot sitting truck. I like that.

Ford is installing a new version of the PowerStroke diesel V-8 in the redesigned F-150, which goes on sale this summer.
The V6 would have been nice - no doubt but it's really not Ford it's the crappy diesel fuel that is high sulfer content that keeps these engines from making the emissions standards. Ford has been bitten on recalls before and I agree with them that it's doesn't make good business sense to push a product out there that will just have to be redesigned in the 2006 model year once low sulfer deisel becomes available.
hapynzap one more thing where did you buy the fans and how much? I believe that i read in either 4wheel and Offroad or Truck Trends that the F150 would be getting the option of a V-6 Diesel and that Ford was still working it all out. Can't remember what year they were talking about but if memeory serves it was for the 2005 model year that it would be available.

I read this weekend an artical that Ford plans on producing 40000 units with the newly designed diesel for the F150(source;Dallas morning news)

I got my flex-a-lite fan kit from Sumit Racing for $399 less 10% off coupon for a net of $359. They have a flat shipping fee of $7.95 I think it was. The 10% coupon they do once or twice a year. It's something to watch for. I think some of the guys tried to do a group purchase and all the dealers turned them down, durn it.
The Navistar V6 deisel would have been nice. I read that it had electronicly actuated valves. Hmmmm
Ford has developed Focus with a bi-fueling system of deisel and urea that meets emissions standards with the low sulfer fuels but there is no supply system availalble to deliver the Urea canisters I've read.

the 4.5 V6 was scrapped. The engine was fine for now but I believe that 2006 or 2007 the diesel emissions regs get tighter.
On the same note... I heard that VW's V10 diesel for the Tourag SUV wont pass the 2007 standards.
Second point, I dont know if the F150 auto trans could handle the torque of the 6.0 (if that was to be dropped in)

I don't believe the Powerstroke 6.0 will even fit in the engine compartment of the F-150 that's why they were looking at a Powerstroke V-6 for the F150.They will also make a new transmission for it if they do end up putting a diesel in unless it is comparable to the HP and Torque of the current engines.
