It should fit in the '04 engine bay, width-wise. The V6 stroker was to be exactly the same as the 6.0L stroker, just a pair of cylinders shorter.

The current problems with emissions is that the diesel will not pass California's '05 regs for light trucks and SUVs. It would be fine for those of us that don't live in the land of CARB. I think '06 is when oil companies are required to start producing low sulfur diesel fuel so that should provide new opportunities for the light trucks.

Question Diesel f150

It seems like one week I here the program is back on (at testing and drawingboard ) and one month last year july- aug issue of Truck trend said for sure this is going to happen , it was the very next issue that said delayed indeffinetly! I wonder if Ford realises how many buyers would be interested in a v-6 4.5 liter TD engine!I think it is more than we realise. I would put my order in today I even wrote a letter to Bill Ford at a website I found , (I would include but that PC and all of its saved informations is gone now) also has anyone ever done a search on WWW.Google.com or the like reguarding Biodiesel! that is the answer it is like running the engine on rapeseed oil , or cooking oil! this is an endless resource here in the great ole USA! and it can run very close to emmisions free and exceeds any standards for emmisions now or in the near future! I think ford could easily do a 6 cy version of the curent 6.0 td and make it fit the new f150 I know it wouldn't work in my 2001 , but with the stiffer frame and tougher specs (the 2004 is over 300hp) i know it could handel a 4.5l version of the current td in the f250 (read chop off two of the cylinders) what do you guys think , dead issue or more people need to tell Bill ford and the designers what we want to see in 2004-2005
maybe they even read these fourm , I know I would want to keep an ear to the ground at ford! it is funny though when I do a search for Diesel f150 it points to this web site not Fords!!! go figure!!! thanks for listening Skully

Like I said above, don't count on a diesel in a light duty truck until the low sulfur fuel is available in '06.

And thats if they can make low sulfur fuel work. The problem with low sulfur fuel is there is not enough lubricacy to provide enough protection in diesel fuel injection systems. They're trying different types of add in lubricants , so far it's still in the testing stages. 2006 is still a few years away. I'm sure Ford & other manufacturers are going to push it to the limit.
