Center Shifter
All the pictures I have seen thus far have been the captain chair model with the center console and shifter.
Is it safe to assume that they will still offer a 60/40 seat with the shifter on the steering column for the '04 Supercrew?
I am having a hard time liking the shifter down there. Just used to trucks with it on the steering column like my '01 Supercrew.
Other than that, everything looks beautiful. Will definately be getting one.

I believe they have pitched the 60/40 seat for the 40/20/40 setup. However, the center console and floor shifter is only with the captains chair (I believe), and I've seen pics of trucks without that setup.
Blue & Scooter are both right. There is no longer a 60/40 seat...its a 40/20/40 seat. But anyways, the center shifter and flow-through console is only on the LARIAT models of the supercab and supercrew. The XL, STX, & XLT all have a column shifter. The console and center shifter is also on the FX4 ONLY if you choose to fully load it.
On the ford web site it says captains chairs are also available on the fx4 and xlt, so there might be a possibility for center console. I
would think but maybe not.

Why in the world is Ford cluttering the floorboard with a floor shifter? I keep a lot of stuff down there....have an aftermarket removable storage console that I keep keys, pens, pencils, paper, notes and my coffee cup in, and I use it every day, plus I can take it out in 10 seconds if I want to. Having storage on the floor vs. the seat storage bin allows you just to reach down and get your stuff instead of tilting and opening that damn seat bin. Try putting your coffee cup in the dash cup holders and see if you can keep from having coffee slosh out of it when you hit even a small dip in the road (if you can even fit your coffee cup in the dash holders to begin with).
Plus, I think those floor shifters s@ck to start with. I know, just an opinion like everyone else.
Just bought a 2003 Screw Lariat and love it....but I guess my next truck will be an XLT.

40/20/40????
Why 40/20/40?...What was the reason for changing to that from the 60/40?...
Will the seat back on the 20 still be a fold down console?...
Will the 20 seat/console be adjustable to fit different size people?...Granted that it is only adjustable on the passenger side on the 60/40, but it is adjustable in a sense....
I guess I was worrying about a couple of short people in the front not being able to rest their arms on the console because their seat backs are so far forward that they can't do it comfortably....With the current 60/40 model, you only have a problem if you have a short driver and long passenger (like when I am forced to let my wife drive - I have the passenger seat so far back it's not comfortable for her to rest her arm)....
Oh well, I'm just wondering why the change...It's one of those "if it ain't broke - don't fix it" things in my mind...

From what I have read on ford's 2004 f150 website, BOTH the FX 4 and the lariat models will be available with the floor shifter and flow through console. This will be an option on these (2) models , and not available on any others.
Yes it is doable. I see that you're in Austin. I live in fort worth and I have a Lariat with the Jump seat in the middle and the column shifter(it was a very rare option in the lariat). O have yet to see another lariat like mine that has the shifter on the column. I would be interested in trading if you have a center console shifter.
