Do we really want a CD and a cassette player? There can't be that many out there that still want both.

We went to the Arizona Auto Show this weekend and my wife made a point to let me know she wants both CD and Cassette because she gets books on tape from the library to listen to while driving around.

I do know that they are trying to get more women into pickup trucks, heh.

The '97-98 model years were the best of the '97 redesign era, IMO. Later years brought cool stuff like standard overhead consoles on XLT, but, as Triton46 said, the interiors became more squarish and, IMO, spartan in trim, especially on the doors.

I do like the '04 redesign but don't feel an overwhelming urge to have one in my driveway. My '98 XLT Supercab's paid for, has 46,000 miles, and runs showroom sweet. I've kept after waxing and interior care pretty good also...after five years of driving it, the truck still turns heads. I've never owned any vehicle before with that kind of effect. I'll probably drive the thing till the wheels fall off.

The '04's are indeed head turners...but that ('05?) Mustang is, well, since it looks very 60ish.....groovy!

i know that the interiors are bigger on the extended cab models, i just hope they didn't lengthen the wheel base bc it probably won't fit in my garage. my 98' s/c clears by 2"!!

OH NO!!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO CHROME BUMPERS!! I VOWED TO NEVER OWN ANOTHER TRUCK W/ PAINTED BUMPERS AFTER MY RANGER! DAMN THOSE MARKETING IDIOTS! GIVE ME CHROME ON A 4X4 OR ELSE!

*****. next thing you know there will be a diaper changing station built into the tailgate! uhg. i hope i don't discover any other catastrophic design changes bc the rest of the truck looks pretty good.

hey Steve,

congrats on being invited by Ford. That is a feat unto itself.

So they obviously see the value in this site.

Do you think any of the posts contributed to this redesign?

hapynzap,

I know that many libraries are carrying more and more books on cd. I too have used them, but I would think that since they are offering an overhead console with DVD and being all high-tech that they would drop the cassette. I never understoop why that combo stereo ended up in the SuperDuty's. That's a big corporation I guess.

You traded a Ford truck for a Nissan car?

How big were the guys who held the gun to your head and how many were there?

No body does something like that on purpose? Unless maybe your wife is that good looking and even better in the hay.

Nah, not even then. Musta been big guns too.

I have to agree with Triton46 about the new flareside design. I do like the new look but not as much as the curves on my truck. They kind of went from boxy (late 80's) to some nice curves (97 till the new design) back to boxy again.

I wouldn't mind having the new design in a way, but at least I don't feel like "damn" I wished I had waited. Since I have only had this truck for a little less then 2 years I was worried when the new design came out that "I would just have to have it" even if it met going upside down money wise.

The new design does look good but not good enough to get me to want to give up my truck for quite some time. Now if I could afford that Lighting, that might be a different story all togeather.

Thumbs up

The 2004's look GREAT!!
Another modern marvel from Ford.
Hemi killer? Time will tell. The new RAM is
really well thought out. And Hemi motors!!
Tough to beat. & Chevy's new rear wheel
turn 1500 crew cab, nice. But this new
Ford design keeps Ford in the race.

These trucks will be all over the road before you
can say "Old MacDonald... had a farm...".

Complaint dept.
Chrome front bumper, or lack there of (hooks are a nice trade-off)
Logo in the middle of the tailgate, a little weird.
The interior seems somewhat frigid and stiff.
They could have messed up much worse.
It's the truck the 1997 should have been.

Praise Dept.
Triton Engine are amazingly powerful and efficient.
Finally, a square looking truck that makes sense.

It appears, by the photo's, that the door crack problem has been fixed.

Door cracks? Im not familiar with this problem, can you enlighten?
One thing I hope they did fix was the problem with the Step side flexing INTO the cab. Got a nice dent in mine from some off roading.

On the Supercabs, (not sure if on the Regcabs) the front doors would develope cracks. Check out the search feature and you'll get plenty of info.

Great Photo's there Doug.

Good thing you didn't take any more than you did of that Short ,Fat,Bald Character that hung around Lindsey and at night looked for Caroline.

That was a great auto show though, EH?

I like the front view and I think the engine is going to be a great (if not the best) competitor in its class. Interiors are super.

But I prefer the 97-03 body. I will keep modifying my 98, specially for more HP.
