Cool converted?.......maybe

I never thought I would say this.......I love the 04 f-150.
I've been a GM guy all my life, and some Dodge. But this f-150 is truely a testament to the future of truck innovation.
Customizable overhead console system-cha-ching!

Floor console shifter on 2 models(hopefully more in the future)-yes!

Very large set of model configurations(ie-bed size, doors, etc)

And the concept lighting-they need to build this, just like it is(I wish)
I really mean it guys,I'm really gonna have to take a long look before my next truck purchase.

Thanks to all at f-150 online for letting this GM guy come and give FoMoCo the credit they deserve.Great job Ford.

I converted with my 2001 SuperCrew. Love the truck! I really like the looks of the 2004. In my opinion, it looks much better than the strange front end of the Chev.

Re: frogg

I am also a Chevy guy strongly considering conversion to the 2004 F-150. The new Chevy front-end is downright ugly. In fact it's uglier up close than it is in pictures in the magazines. (The GMC is ok.) But that's not my biggest beef with it.

For anyone who wants a big enough back seat for real people (or real kids with car seats), Chevy's solution is a monstrously long truck with Quadrasteer (a $4+K option) -- or else forget about parking anywhere urban -- with a gas-guzzler and piston-slap-plagued engine (the 6 liter Vortec). The 1500/2500 HDs just aren't a workable option for me and many other people. I love the truck, but it isn't practical for me.

It's not clear to me that Ford has fully solved this problem with the '04 SuperCrew either. Although I've read through the 2004 F-150 press kit (released today), I'm still left wondering: Can you really get the new SuperCrew with a 6.5-foot bed? And if so, how much did they shrink the back seat? What's the overall length of the vehicle? What's the wheelbase? I'm also a little leery of buying the first year of a major new design with a brand new engine.

From the pics, the '04 SuperCrew looks very interesting, though. I like the styling better than the old F-150, and it may be the best people/cargo design compromise yet. I'm sorely tempted.

I hate to say it,but the general is disappointing me right now.For a lot of reasons.I guess when the time goes for a new truck,i'm gonna have a lot to weigh and measure.
