Steering wheel play 02 5.4 super crew

Hello all. I’ve got a considerable amount of slop in my steering wheel. I’ve already tried adjusting the Allen screw on top of the steering gear box (or whatever the actual make of it is). That made no difference.

This has been getting worse over the last cops of years but at a seemingly tiny rate. But the other day I drove it and it seemed normal, and then the next day it had a lot more play in it.

Do you think it’s the gear box? Is there another test which would give me a more definitive answer? Thank you in advance.

here is the video

Check the u-joint in the steering shaft and the tie rod ends.

Thank you, I’ll check the u-joint. Well, I’ll check all of it, but the the tie rods and every other front end part was replaced about 1.5 years ago.

Check idler, drag link, pitman. Those aren't usual parts to check like the tie rods
