Need gasket help, valve cover and oil pan
Doing a timing chain job on my 99 F150 4.6W 2V and ran into two snags.
1) Felpro blue gasket is falling out of rear end of valve cover. I tried ahead of time to glue it in with blue RTV, but that made it worse. Now it won't stay in the groove at the rear corner. I cleaned all traces of the RTV from gasket and valve cover. Looking for a tip to keep gasket in the groove while I put the cover on.
2) Was going to loosen the oil pan and drop it down slightly to R&R the timing cover. Someone overtightened the oil pan bolts and I can't get the one over the crossmember loose. Do I even need to lower the pan some or is there a trick to slide the timing cover off and back on without damaging the oil pan gasket?
