Early 1997 4.6 leaking gas ON THE PASSENGER SIDE

.. lost fuel pressure and left me in the side of the road. Truck has been sitting for a many months. Then I Installed a new fuel tank, new fuel filter, new fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator, also new fuel relay. Truck drove fine for a couple weeks. Hauled a car on trailer on Friday & noticed a little loss of power and then it stalled out at the light. Has Strong crank but no start. I noticed heavy smell of gas and led me to see fuel coming out passenger side from rocker panel. What fuel related component could be on PASSENGER side and would leak down to panel between front wheel and front door???

See the gas puddle behind the front wheel!

Has to be the fuel rail and the o rings that go to one or more of the injectors.

They are probably cracked from age if nothings ever been replaced.... 1997 > 2022 is a long time...

If you know what you are doing, it's really not a hard job at all. I would replace all 8 injectors are this point since you are working in that area. If you do, choose Motorcraft for the safest bet.

Thanks for the input
i'm hoping it's something as simple as injector o-rings. It's a bit cramped, but doesn't look impossible. Will take a look on Saturday.

Update * gas leak

I pulled the inner fender liner on the passenger side to find the Gas leak is coming thru what looks like a vacuum line that's supposed to be connected to the HVAC box??

Passenger side inner fender

check the lines going to the fuel pressure regulator - it may have ruptured the diaphragm

I traced those vacuum lines and one goes back a port on the intake manifold and the other goes back to the Fuel Pressure regulator. I installed that FPR only a few months ago. Didn't figure for that to fail so soon. I'm happy I kept the old one. Will swap the old one back on. Hope that's it. Thank you!!
