Bitten off more than i can chew with this GEM module

Ford 2002 F150 4.6 2wd supercrew 292,000 miles (new engine put in at 282K).

been having a random leak from the windshield, which i should of fixed but i didn't reluctantly.. anyhow all of a sudden the wipers stopped working, then the starter begin to stick, wouldn't crank once (undid battery to reset and then it did), AC briefly didn't work. All of this happened over 1 day. as of right now i don't even have to have the key in the ignition and the truck will crank. Just touching the battery and it tries to fire up. But the motor keeps turning.

After reading i assumed it was the module that was affected. i go to take it out and i can get the large outside plug off of the module. i unscrewed the bolt on the inside one and it popped right off. Am I do something wrong?

and going back to #1, is the module for surely the problem? maybe the ignition is the problem?

i appreciate the help as i'm in a bind and need to get this truck going. otherwise i'm driving a 71 Bronco xx miles to work in heavy traffic.

thanks to all,

Well yes the GEM controls a lot of functions but not the ignition switch or cranking function.
Look at the GEM. Does is look like water has caused any corrosion? If not, some other harness issue, ignition pull rod or switch may be the cause.
Remember the shifter has to be in Park or Neutral for the starter to crank the engine because the start circuit goes through the TRS switch on the side of the trans and back to the start relay on the fire wall.
When the ignition switch has closed it's contacts >>for any reason<<, power is applied to other circuits. Don't let that lead you astray when the starter activates like you say.
Using this info, think some logic and what to look for as the cause.
Maybe some leads have been damaged when the engine was replaced.
No way to help any further.
Good luck.

I'm not seeing any erosion. but i also thought that if the inside plug is sticking to the fuse box, is that the corrosion that's making that happen? can i spray the fuse box with a lube as to free it up? I assume I would have to junk the fuse box after doing that.

Hey
Just wanted to share that when I replaced my GEM about 5 months ago it didn't have much corrosion on it but I did notice that everything metal behind the dash was rusty. My interior lights, windshield wipers and power windows were not working then after replacing the GEM they worked. But now all my gauges are not working yet everything else I've checked is working lol it seems to be never ending. Hope you have better luck and have gotten it going.
