Hello: My fuel pump dies and when i was dropping the tank. I forgot to disconnect the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor on the rear of the tank. I doing so the wire were pulled straight out from the harness. I bought a new harness a standard automotive parts connector. Part number S821. But I cant figure out which wires connect. The wires like I described came straight out of this three cavity connector and I tried to look on google and also looked on my 1997 F-150 electrical and vacuum troubleshooting manual which show all the connections and wire colors and which wire corresponds to which socket. But my book says connector C301 and states it not available.
On the back of the sensor it has three numbers if facing the sensor from the driver side frame and looking toward the gas tank. reading right to left 1,2,3. I dont know which colored wires from the original harness connect to the aftermarket Standard Products S821 part. I have included some pictures. This is original three cavity connector. As you can see the numbers clearly labeled on the bottom and how the wires came out this harness cleanly and the wires from the original harness got twisted up.
Yes I figured it out. My 1997 F150 XLT 4x4 in the early version the color diagram for the sensor changed. The early 1997 F150 before May 1997 production the position and color of the wire was different. After may of 1997 til current the wires and color are the same. I would send the color diagram but I sold my house and all my manuals are in storage. Its a strange thing Ford did I even tried to look under the 1995-1996 F150 XLT fuel pressure sensor setup buts its different. Go on Ebay I bought a Ford truck emissions book. It includes diagrams of all the emission systems and wiring. I bought mine used for 30 dollars. Get the specific year ONLY. don't get the 1996 or 1998 emissions book It will NOT be in their. Because I bought books myself and found out the hard way. Get the 1997 F150 emission book ONLY. IN closing, you can go on rock auto, parts geek, and look under their literature tab to see if the have those manuals or do a google search for 1997 F150 emission book and then go to the shopping tab located on the top of the google search bar page. hope it helps
