Cop to cnp conversion on 97 f-150
Thinking of using oem coil over plugs but adding wires and rerouting them so slightly away for ease of access on the rear coils but might as well do them all figured I’d see on here what anyone thought about it’s concept
I want to basically put the coil a foot away from the motor and have a spark plug wire going to the plug I’m just not sure if it will lose too much spark or change spark timing with the added length while using the oem coils I have to do fabrication work to mount them elsewhere but every time I replace coils 3 & 4 they foul up due to my heater core going out and are hard to reach so while I’m replacing the core I figured if I can make it so the coils have less chance to get wet and are easier to change it would be better
To add on to why you can't do that, is because of Ohms Law and amongst other things.
This is the first I'm I've ever heard of anyone wanting to do such a thing too.
Very strange.

I suppose you could do a full coil pack conversion, but that would involve a wiring harness and PCM reprogramming or replacement. However, if you have a E4OD transmission, there aren't any PCM's compatible with it and coil packs. The 97-2000 4.6 had coil packs, but they all had a 4R70W.

tenth gen gold right here
that poor vehicle
The rear coils aren't that too bad to access. Even if you *could* doesn't seem like its worth the effort
5.4 3v in the 11th gen is slightly harder, but even those are pretty straight forward to access
