starting hesitation on my 02 5.4L… please help

‘02 F-150 FX4 XLT 5.4L auto

Hi all so I have some questions regarding electrical issues on my truck. I put a battery in my truck about 3 months ago… smaller battery, not meant for a 5.4L truck, it’s a battery for a 4.2L V6 F150 (it physically looks smaller than the one that was initially in the truck) I put it in since it was new, long story but I bought it for another truck (V6 10th gen) I was gonna buy, didn’t end up buying the truck so decided to put it into my truck (5.4L.) For the first few months it pretty much started perfectly and flawlessly without hesitation but starting yesterday it seems very very slow to start (not on command anymore… now it probably takes an extra second) I’m starting to think I need to swap in a proper battery? Hopefully I didn’t do something bad to the alternator by using a improper sized battery? The exact battery I used is shown in the screenshot below. Anyways, just need some confirmation/ insight on whether or not the small battery 🔋 has anything to do with starting hesitation. Thanks y’all for the help 👍

I wouldn't condemn it just yet. Get it charged and load tested.

Look up on the internet "wrong size battery for vehicle" and every article will tell you it probably will cause problems.

I agree with glc. Check the charging system and make sure the battery is fully charged.

That's what damages charging systems, wrong sized batteries.

Back up a bit... What does the following actually mean?
but starting yesterday it seems very very slow to start (not on command anymore… now it probably takes an extra second)
Does that mean that cranking speed is slow, cranking is delayed, or you have an extended crank before firing?

Oh sorry I meant to say beginning yesterday… also the problem is basically beginning yesterday I noticed it takes an extra second to start, it hesitates and the starter sounds weak and slow. It does start though but I’m sure it’ll only it worse. As sarcastic as I was being with J P… I think he’s right, I may have to go back to a factory 850CCA battery since the 590CCA battery is definitely not meant for a V8 truck (heck supposedly not even a V6 after doing some research)

Actually, the 590 CCA battery was standard on both engines with a group 65 as an option. I doubt that the size of the battery is pertinent.

You didn't answer my question with enough specificity for me to understand what the actual problem is.

That's what I thought. If your battery is fully charged and load tests good you have a different but possibly related problem.

I’ll see what I can do about getting it diagnosed/ fixed. The battery seems to not be the problem, I should get the battery checked out at AutoZone or a mechanic but if y’all are saying that’s a factory size battery there’s not necessarily a point, no joke I was probably a minute away from getting my keys and zipping around town to my local Walmart to get a new bigger battery 🔋 I just started it 15 minutes ago and it started literally perfectly after 5 hours of sitting. Super strange that now it decided to start normally again! I think 🤔 since it has 186,500 miles I’ll change the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors maybe those things are starting to go out, the Motorcraft ones on RockAuto cost about $25 each

Autozone will load test the battery and alternator in the parking lot, no charge.
