2003 King Ranch driver side front diff leak
2003 King Ranch driver side front diff leak
Just noticed that where the CV joint bolts up to the axle shaft going into the front differential I have a leak... How hard is it to put a new seal in where that axle shaft goes into the front differential on the driver side? Passenger side is dry as a bone. Thanks!
You have two options here... both of which requires work.
Option 1: Unbolt the hub from the back, and then use a hub puller to extract it off the splines off of the shaft. Then you can slide it out. There might be another part or two holding it in such as a carrier, but it's pretty straight forward.
Option 2: Unbolt the UCA, LCA, tie rod and yank the whole knuckle off with the shaft out of the diff. When you put it back together, you will need to do an alignment.
I prefer option 1, because I have the tools and I don't like to mess around with other parts if I don't have to.
