Battery saver relay has a jumper wire installed

In the middle of trying to find an intermittent no start issue I noticed a jumper wire in the passenger compartment fuse box and discovered it was jumping the battery saver relay. Obviously this needs attention (had to replaced a one year old battery recently, on had the truck a few months now).
I guess my real question here is would be ok pull the jumper out until I can get a relay, and could this have been what killed the battery? I haven't tested parasitic draw yet but new battery has been in a week with no issues

Sounds like something a shade tree mechanic might have done.

If you have cruise control, make sure you have the recall done -- basically a fused pigtail on the master cylinder. Should have a label on it.

Don't want to see or hear about your truck catching on fire...
