Head or time

I have a 99 f150 270000 miles experienced timing chain guard issues over weekend. When it happened I was only going about 10mph and shut it down as soon as I heard it. My question is when I started it back up it was blowing white smoke out the tailpipe will a messed up timing chain cause that

White Smoke

It usually means that coolant is being burned in the engine, which means that something is drastically wrong. The most common cause of this is a blown head gasket, which can quickly lead to an overheating engine.

I bought the truck new in 98 and took good care of it. What are the odds of a timing chain and head gasket messing up at the same time? I'm just trying to get some feedback on weather to try and fix this engine or slap a reman in it

Not knowing exactly what your timing chain problems are, if the timing of the combustion process is off even slightly, it can send too much pressure into the cylinder head. This can cause the head gasket to fail.
