‘99 f150

Recently purchased a 99 f150 knowing it has some problems, but had no idea it was gonna be as big of a problem as it has been.
Starter was having some problems, no big deal, swap it out. Buddy who knows a pretty bit about trucks said he’ll change it out while im at work. I said sure, no problem. He takes it out, new one in, hooks it up, and puts the battery on. He says that when he hooked the battery back up it threw sparks “like it would when you put one on backwards.” He then proceeds to tell me that there’s no power anywhere in the truck.
turns out starter’s positive and negative were backwards so i got it on right but it’s too late im guessing, still no power anywhere and the battery is good.
im assuming there’s a short somewhere. No crimps or cut wires anywhere that i can find, and all fuses are good.
Any suggestions on what it could be? My mechanical and electrical knowledge is only so extensive, but ive looked at everything i can think of on the truck, got a ton of suggestions from other people, and looked through countless forums.

There is no telling what your "buddy" burned up when he connected the battery backwards. Start with fuses.

looked through fuses before, they’re all good. He says he didn’t hook it up backwards but he might just be trying to cover his ***

still no power anywhere and the battery is good.
So what happens when you turn on the ignition switch ? Any lights ? Dashboard lights ? 4-way flashers ?
