2001 f150 rwb speedo problems
2001 f150 rwb speedo problems
I have a 2001 f150 xlt, rear wheel drive, 5.4 ltr, 4r70w automatic. When I start the truck, the speedo jumps to about 25 mph. When I put it in gear and start moving the speedo climbs to about 35 mph and stays there, no matter how fast I drive. Truck runs great. No other issues. I replaced both VSS. This truck has 1 on the trans and one on the rear axle. Problem has not changed. From what I can see, the wires look good, nothing burnt or out of place. I have done a lot of searching on this site and others with no clear answers. Can the speedometer be repaired or should it be replaced or is there another problem? Not sure of next step. I appreciate any help offered.
No.
Put the HEC into dealer test mode. It will report the speed data received from the PCM. You need to determine if valid data is being received by the cluster before assuming the cluster is in need of repair.
