Hey all - I have a stock 2003 lariat FX4 supercrew, and Ive been thinking about upsizing the wheels and tires without doing anything else. I dont want to go above 18" wheels, but Im not sure what wheel / tire size I can go to before problems start occuring.. (rubbing, etc)....stock tires are 265/70/17.

Any help / advice would be appreciated.....

 

I drive my 02 on the beach a lot and I wanted more flotation on the sand so I went from 265/70x17 to 285/70x17 tires and those gave me just what I needed and they don't rub the front fenders. They are close to rubbing when the front tires are turned all the way. The 7 1/2 inch wide stock FX4 rims are the minumum width recommended for that size. I bought Firestone Destination AT. They are quiet and ride well since they are load rated C. They are wearing faster than the Michelins I usually buy. I corrected the speedometer by adjusting the tire diameter in the computer with my Superchips tuner.

 

Ford did NOT give us much help on this....Basically 295 width 33" tall is ALL your going to get without issues.It doesn't matter what size rim you go with (diameter) but OFFSET is CRITICAL to fit ANYTHING.without a lift.
