1997 Bumper Swap

I currently have a 1997 F-150 XLT 2wd truck. I知 wanting to put a brush guard/bumper guard on it but everything I find says the 2wd cannot have one put on, only the 4wd bumpers. Can I just swap the front bumper from another 1997 F-150 that is 4wd to my 2wd truck and then be able to put a brush guard/bumper guard on? Or is there another way I should be looking at it?

Thanks

Everything I have found for the guard says only the 4wd versions can get them because they have the tow hooks and the bumper attaches to those, and mine doesn稚 have those

tow hooks are simply bolted (2 bolts) thru the frame...actually there is a nut plate that sits inside the frame. IIRC the hooks bolt on UNDER the frame; therefore, one could simply drill a couple holes in the front frame horns and there ya go. In fact i bet there are already holes there as you could get tow hooks on a 2 wheel drive as well.

So I should be able to get some tow hooks and they should bolt right up to my frame? Thank you very much. I知 gonna try and find some off of another truck and just swap them onto mine until I get the chance to get a brush guard. Again thanks for your replies and help!

IIRC, the holes should be there. I know I remember back in the day seeing folks posting adding tow hooks on their OBS 4x2 F150's.

So the holes should be on the bottom of the frame rails? I just took my valance off earlier today and the only holes I see is a single hole on the side of the rail. I知 trying to find the factory tow hooks online just to see how they mount just to get an idea on the holes and where they should be at.
