new to the site and new with fords,, I bought a 99 f150 that had a 5.4 that was bad, someone started a swap to a 4.6 from a 97 f150 and didn't finish, now I have bought the truck and was trying to get it running for a old timer with no ride.. that said the 99 5.4 was coil on plug, the 97 4.6 has coil packs, I tried to covert 4.6 coil on plug but its over my head any help is appreciated

 

Ah, the learning curve comes quick.
The Computer program and wire harness using the COP and 2 coil packs are all different.
Best to use a 4.6 harness and 4.6 computer on a 4.6 motor..
A lot less hassle ,then work out the rest of the differences.
For example, the 5.4 has 8 separate coil drivers leads vs the two pack arrangement as well as getting the correct fire order.to the pack terminals.
You would need wire schematics and ability to read them.
Never take on a job like this for another unless you feel experienced enough to be successful.
.Every one that tries just makes a bigger mess for the next guy who tries to sort it ALL out.

thank you for reply, I felt pretty good about the job but its proving to be more I was expecting , we came looking for pointers and help. where would I get copies of a wiring diagram?
