99 4.6 drop in 02

Picked up an non rusted 02 with a blown engine. So instead of buying a new one, I picked up a low mileage 99 donor. It has the same 4.6 in. I thought. The donor has coil packs. Mine had COP. Is this possible to swap easily? Or did I just waste my time and money? Any help or insight would be helpful

Your 02 engine is probably PI (performance improved). The 99 won't be. It will swap as long as you find all required sensors. Use COP and the 99 intake and exhaust manifolds.

Would you know what sensors I’m looking for by chance? And if the intakes are different, how would using COP work without having a way to mount the coil?

Pull the blown engine, pull the heads and see if they are any good. If they are, use those heads on the 99 engine along with the manifolds. The only downside is you will have a higher compression ratio which may require premium fuel.

For the sensors, you are going to have to do a side by side comparison.

That’s the downside... the heads and internals are shot on the 02. The only way it sounds it would work is if I found a set of PI heads and intake and did the swap that way. So sounds like I’ve just wasted more time and money....
