I know for sure its a Windsor because it's stamped W in 2 or 3 places on the block. I just think it's weird the heads say 5.4L on them. The truck pink slip says 4.6L so I'm just going with that. I'm reading that the heads are the same regardless of the 4.6 or 5.4...the block is what's different to give it the extra cyl capacity.

I guess i have one big question now that I really need to get answered above all others. The two heater hose connections on the back passenger side were bent up during engine removal. (not by me) One of the fittings is pressed? into the intake the other is the solid black metal return pipe that connects to the front of the motor on the block. Is there an easy way to disconnect the pipe where it attaches to the block? Also the intake one? Or would I be best to cut them off and drill/tap some different fittings in there? Pix attached

Water fitting in intake manafold...bent/crushed at where it joins to the manifold (i straightened it out some)

Heater return pipe (bent just past the hose fitting part)

Fitting to block appears pressed or soldered on?

The heads are actually different between PI and non-PI. The 5.4 went PI in 1999, the 4.6 went PI in mid-2001. Just saying. Manifolds are not interchangeable.

I am aware, this is a 4.6l The heads have not been swapped, this is the intake from the car it was pulled from. It's a complete motor.

Question Salvageable?

This upper intake is largely ok, however there's some signs of gouging on the back by where the water pipe connects. If I end up having to use it, would slapping some JB Weld on there and then smoothing flat be a reasonable fix? Or just put some black RTV on the gasket and let it do the sealing, or both? The rest of the intake is fine. I believe this to have been damaged during removal of the corroded/bent water pipe.. or it may have been dropped during removal from the engine...not by me however.
