I have a 03 f150 with the 4.2 im looking to get a 4.6 and swap it out I know I need the trans and computer now I have the single cab with 8ft bed so am I looking at modifying the driveshaft?? And is that all I need to get it done?

 

Get another 4.2

Or sell your truck and get what engine you want.

 

Looking to purchase a friends 1999 F150 w/ a 4.2 V6 and cracked heads. Found out the trans will bolt up to a 4.6 and it was just replaced. I have easy access to a 4.6. Anyone ever done such a swap? I'm going to do my own exhaust work so that won't be needed from a donor but will I need much of anything else other than the ECU and wiring harness'? Radiator the same? Any and all info welcome! snaptube vidmate

 

A 4.2 transmission will NOT bolt up to a 4.6. The bellhousing patters are different.
