Truck cranks wont start

4.6 v8, 98 f150. 235K miles.

Went out to start my truck after work and it just turns, but won’t crank. I can hear the fuel pump kick on. Any other things to check? Check spark? Fuel Pump relay? Ignition coil?

You mean it cranks but won't start?

Go to a parts store and borrow the following items:

Inline spark tester - to see if you have spark.
Fuel pressure gauge - required minimum pressure is 28 psi.
Noid lights - to see if the injectors are pulsing.

And get them to check the codes. If you have a P1000, you may have the problem I had which was a bad PCM relay.

Checking for codes, in a situation like this, usually isn't productive.

Make things as simple as possible. Shoot some ether or brake cleaner into the intake while cranking and see it fires. If it doesn't, no spark. If it does fire, fuel problem.

No firing when i spray wd40 into intake. I also have fuel at the test valve on the rail when I press it down with a needle nose. So sounds like not getting spark.

WD-40? I have no idea if it would work or not, never tried burning it. Use one of the items I recommended.

Sent it to the mechanic - it was actually the camshaft sensor that went bad. Had not thought to check that.
