the local upholstery shop quoted $600 to replace my Lariat leather driver's seat over the phone. They said they thought they could get it with the Lariat embed in the leather.

Costco sells leather seat upholstery replacements.

About 5 years ago I noticed my driver's seat back in my 2002 Lariat Screw was wearing on the bolster. I took it to the upholstery shop nearby and they couldn't order a new lariat embossed leather replacement because they claimed Ford wasn't marketing them any longer. The guy back in the shop doing the work asked if I would allow him to swap the left side for the right side back. Since I have the 60/40 bench the backs were identical with the exception of the slit for the recline control.

He swapped them, added a small slit and they looked great. The worn spots on each were now on the inside where they get no wear.

Ok ...finally about to pull pull the trigger on the REPLACEMENT SEAT COVERS.

Next question?..... CARPET.
Is the "mass backing" a SUPPLEMENT for DYNAMAT? or should I go with the NON-MASS backing....and install dynamat? or BOTH?

Too late for the original subject, but I've been looking at this for my driver's side seat bottom.

That is a good price, but remember the bottoms are easier to find both OEM and aftermarket leather. The issue I had a few years ago was the seat back. I was told you couldn't find the backs with the LARIAT embossed any longer.

I think that is because "Lariat" is copyrighted and owned by Ford. Right now, I really need the seat bottom. The back can last a while longer.

They have a 4 part video on youtube that shows you how to recover the bucket seat bottom and back.

I found these seat back replacements on ebay that according to the photos have the Lariat emblem.
