Speedometer and odometer incorrect after recall

I recently took my 98 F150 in to the dealer for the cruise control recall as my grandparents never took it in when it was theirs. Everything in the cluster worked as it should before I took it in, but now that they did the recall both the speedometer and odometer will intermittently work correctly and then randomly stop showing the correct speed. Just recently I was driving and noticed that the speedometer showed 40 and the odometer was moving at 40, but the GPS showed 60. When I stopped, it still showed 40. Would this be anything to do with the fuse added?

Sounds like a bad ground connection and possibly wrong programming

Well in that case, I guess I'll start going over the grounds then.

I know there is a common issue with the clusters not working right. My digital display works 50% of the time. I am just too lazy to do anything about it.

What you could do is replace the switch and recall harness with an improved switch that doesn't need the harness and see what happens.

Coincidence. There's nothing in that recall that can cause your new symptoms.

Perhaps.

That wouldn't have been part of the cruise recall and would [should] have been itemized on the repair order had it been part of some other applicable recall that required a re-flash. Dealers don't do work like that for free, they'd only do it if they were getting paid, either by the customer or by Ford.

And Ford corporate is only going to pay for it if is part of a formal recall. It would be itemized on the work order that the customer receives, if it was done. The speed control recall has no PCM re-programming as a component.
