Intermittent display of odometer

My odometer display is intermittent, is this due toa bad bulb, or a cluster, or some type of lcd screen?

btw...unless you have x-ray vision (or a micro-scope) you will NOT see the cracks in the solder. ...take you about 2 hrs complete.

If you are going to take the cluster apart to do it, reflow ALL the pins. Use a low wattage pencil iron.

I wanted to put in a Lightning cluster, but.... noticed it has a boost gauge...

I might toss in some white gauge face and possibly try to change out the bulbs if possible to LEDs?

Any cluster swap will require reprogramming.

What needs to get reprogrammed? Is this a thing where I need to take it to the locksmith, with 2 pats keys? Like $80?

Ford dealer or a shop that has the Ford software. I don't think this can be done with Forscan. The cluster is married with the PCM and PATS.

ok, so what about the bulbs in there? what size are they before I tear it apart and just try to find some that come close? may need to order some, also, is there some tinting on the cluster? some have weird colors on them.

Is there a special tint on them that will effect the color of the bulbs I put in?

Also, I don't have a low wattage soldering iron, but my station has a temp adjustment. Can I go off that? It is a hakko fx888d

That soldering station is fine. I just wouldn't use a soldering gun on it.

Should I use it at a lower setting? It can get very hot. I use it on 10g wire....
