Gas?

I filled my 2001 F150 5.4 with gas at a cheap station. Soon after it was missing and has the rotten egg smell. This truck has never had a miss. Would bad gas cause this? It was not doing it before I filled at a station I have never used.

Never fill up at any odd gas station if there has been any flooding going on in the US. The gas companies don't junk it, they recycle it and sometimes that recycle process is nothing more than skimming the gas off of the top and then stuffing a butload of alcohol in it to make it burn. Sometimes even the majors will do that. Usually they wholesale it out to the little no name stations for cheap. I bought a big slug of it and pumped it into the Broncos 36 gallon tank. I didn't make it out of the station. I had a test unit in the truck and it was loaded with water. Shell got to tow the truck, empty the tank, and refill it will 93 proof. That's a day I'll never get back. Probabilities are high that's what has happened to you. Might try a parts house to see if they carry test kits for water in the gas. It's a lot like a litmus test.

Throw about 4 bottles of IsoHeet in it, or drop the tank and drain/clean it.

Likely you got a load of water with the gas.
Water sinks to the bottom and will be picked up by the pump right away.
Drain some out of the filter and look at it in a clear glass.
Once you load up on alky water absorber, expect the trouble to exist for some time until it is absorbed and mixed with fresh gas.
Also it will change the way the motor runs for awhile.
only other way is to drain the tank, blow out the fuel lines to the motor change the filter.
Even then you may not get it all but will take a shorter time to clear out.
Good luck.
