Has anyone used one of these with favorable results? Thoughts?

anyone?

I have used my 4wd a couple of times. I fear that it might not be unlocking like it should when I switch back to 2wd. and..... knowing it's all sensors and vacuum stuff, the cable would definitely be a surefire way to not have to rely on that stuff....

not on my Ford...have never had an issue with OE vacuum stuff. Now yrs ago my 94 Chevy system used a heated hydraulic system to engage the front....IT SUCKED!! Some of my buddies went cable like this one...i went ELECTRIC SERVO... both seemed to surpass the GM design.

I have this system and can tell you it works way much better than Ford. It will lockin the front better and faster than the Ford system and if you have to use it as we do in Florida you would understand. It locks right now and not tomorrow if adjust correctly. You just push the button and pull out on it to its stops and let go to lock it in and just push the button all the way in to release it.

In Florida, you may have sand, mud, rock, owl S H I T mud, red clay mud, seat pucker red-black mud, swamp stinking no bottom mud and the red grease fall down trying to walk mud.
Note: ( The best person I ever saw walk on the red grease fall down mud was drunk and did not fall down and I wish there were phones back then to video the moment).
This stuff is worse than ice walking up a hill. It is one where just the truck engine running will make it slide one way or the other.

I remember back in the day on my explorer with the autohubs, I put manual dual warn locking hubs on it. But I know the f150 isn't like that.

The day I used 4wd on the f150, I had a return trip home of a couple hundred miles. It still felt like the hubs were locked. And freeway speeds like that, are not a good thing for it....

It's not going to hurt it as long as the transfer case is in 2wd. It will just use more gas.

Yes, just don't engage the lock when you put it in 4LO.

Sooooo...... the wheels always spin the halfshafts? How can you tell if they disengaged when going back to 2wd?

If it didn't disengage, but you put it back in 2wd and drive around on the freeway, isn't that bad?

Yes. It's a diff lock, hubs are solid.

Only for gas mileage.

Just a guess - jack up one front wheel and spin it, the front driveshaft should not turn.

So I tried it. Wheels were unlocked in 2wd, driveshaft didn't spin. Started it up, put in 4wd. Turned the wheel, driveshaft spun. Put it back in 2wd, driveshaft still spins..... grrrrr

But at least I am learning how this works 😉
