I got a 97 f150 xlt extended cab and the head gaskets are shot truck has about 160k, i found a 5.4 from a 98 expedition and i was womdering if anyone on here has any tips or suggestions they could give me and any advice woyld be helpful but heres what ik from researching and asking around. I seen on one of the forums that i wont have to swap pcms but the 4.6 has a few sensors the 5.4 doesnt so id have to tap into the intake manifold in order to add some of the missing sensors is this true? Swaping ovee the pcm is also one of the things ive heard and read about being the best way towards doing this swap is this true? And from a scale from 1 to 10 how hard will this swap be? Any opinions comments will help tons on this. Ome last thing i also found a 4.6 motor and trans fro dirt cheap low mileage out of a totaled truck i want to know if its worth doing the 5.4 swap or just doimg the straight drop in swap.
