I need to pull the Throttle body off to get to the @%#$%# IAC. I have seen the youtube videos of others getting it out without removing the TB, but I cannot get any tools in there to get it out.
I am new to the fords, but I was wondering what the best source of manual/documentation for repairs there is? Should I buy one of those CDs off ebay? Is there a quality manual available online? Chilton? Or just seach the web, and if so what am I searching for?
I have found some great diagrams and some not so great diagrams, I'm trying to find the better ones. If you could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it!
Post #99 has a working link. It may not be exactly what you are looking for, but it's free. I'd recommend you pull the throttle body and elbow and clean them both - including the EGR passages in the elbow.
1/4 inch drive 8mm short socket with a 3 inch extension will get the bolts out. Do the bottom one first so the top one will hold the gasket in place so you can slip it off the top bolt.
The other advantage to removing the whole throttle body housing is that then you can clean /inspect the 2 interior EGR ports, which can also get carboned up.
I've done it both ways....I prefer to remove the throttle body housing. one reason as stated above, as well as, cleaning the throttle body housing and back side of the throttle plate . The other is with the throttle body housing with the IAC now on the bench, it becomes much easier to remove the IAC clean it , or replace it and make certain that I don't loose one of those little bolts.
