died & wont turn over after hard brake and sharp turn

Our '99 F150 died after slamming on the brakes while turning the steering wheel. Now it will not start. It almost sounds like it's locked up instead of the clicking sound you normally get with something like a dead battery. I read elsewhere it could be a dirty IAC. Anyone have a similar problem or any suggestions where to start looking?

Please clarify - are you saying that the starter won't spin the engine, or are you saying that it spins but won't fire?

It isn't firing. It sounds as if it is attempting to turn.

Check the battery connections, battery, and the battery cables at both ends.

If the starter is spinning it over at a normal speed but it's not firing, check the fuel cutoff inertia switch behind the passenger kick panel.

Do you have fuel pressure? There's a Schrader valve on the fuel rail for testing. Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key on?

Problem solved

The problem was the air conditioner compressor. Apparently when hitting the brakes and turning sharply there was enough force when the pitman arm hit the compressor jamming the pulley. Took compressor off and replaced with bypass pulley.
