I have a 2001 short bed crew cab 4.6L 2x4 with the 4r70W and my trans started hitting real hard shifting into 4th and occasionally refusing to go into OD. I have the opportunity to buy a 2001 single cab 5.4L F150 7700 2x4 also with the 4r70w, parts truck for cheap (totaled by insurance company, but not too bad of damage. airbags deployed).

My question is, can I just swap the trans from the 5.4 to my 4.6 with ease? No changing of driveshaft length, all connectors plug and play, anything like that. My 4.6 is my daily driver (with OD off) and can't afford for it to go down for more than a few days.

 

I'm going tonight to check out the other truck. I'll measure the tailshaft and check out some other stuff. Any ideas if the tranny will work?
