Bleed or not to bleed new lash adjusters
Bleed or not to bleed new lash adjusters
Hello, I am a long time reader but this is my first post. Anyways I am hoping some of the gurus here can help me out. I have a 97 F150 4.6l Windsor engine,
I have taken the drivers side head off to repair a burnt valve. I am now putting it back together and im putting new lash adjusters in. it is unclear to me if I need to bleed the new lash adjusters down, put them in and let them prime in the vehicle upon start up to avoid a bent valve , or prime them to the solid state and put them in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am new to these engines, but just rebuilt a 5.4. Soaked the new lash adjusters in a bowl of oil overnight before installing. No problems on start up. This is my ONLY experience with these over head cam Ford engines so... good luck.
Thank you for your reply. I was thinking the same thing about keeping them in oil overnight. I had just been researching lash adjusters and some have said to put them in spongy so that there wasn't an issue with the valves working properly.
