A lot of people have moved to Facebook pages for faster communication, and being most of them are pretty young and accustomed to talking on FB. The FB pages lack in archives and searching functions. (Not that people regularly use the search function here)
The only nice thing is notifications in replies (which forums have, but not many people use them)
One should also keep in mind, while price has increased (mostly inflation) the product is more capable, and setup better to begin with.
97-03 lots of people did efans. 2006 Ford went to E-cltuch, and in 2010 Ford went to factory electric fans
Tuning, exhaust, stereo, all the "common" mods on a 10th Gen have been addressed in later generation trucks. Factory subwoofer, more trucks coming with big center console up front etc
Quick note on inflation: in my life time (30.5 years) our economy has seen 100% inflation. So that 50-60k truck in theory is like buying a 25-30k in the late 80s early 90s

I remember when there were mailing lists. I thought it was weird when they moved to the "forum" structure. It's still the best platform for this sort of interaction in my opinion.
It truly is amazing how expensive a new truck is. It's even more amazing how much trucks have become less and less like trucks. I have not had a car payment in many years - until I bought the 40' diesel pusher last month. Hopefully I can keep buying older stuff, fixing it myself, and lose little to nothing on depreciation.
I have learned a lot here myself. I still remember when I signed up in search of a 5.4 for my truck which I had picked up dirt cheap. I asked if it could be the cam phasers making the knock noise. I had searched, but obviously not enough.

Your very welcome, still keeping an eye on yuh lol.
After 321k miles on my 02, it was no longer inspect able with a rotted out rear frame area.
.
I moved on to a 2018 5L
A whole new ball game.
Vehicle is completely computer controlled and with features far beyond the older trucks.
I got a good one but for an oil passage some had.
Discovered the root cause and a way to alleviate it.
Been clear for the last 30k miles heading for 89k now.
Anyone that has the issue: a non factory work around only cost $10 for an oil additive.
There is no factory TSB to solve this, otherwise.
.
I check this forum often and will answer when appropriate.
Good luck.
As long as my truck has problems I will always be here looking for the answers and believe me it's just like being married for 48 years! You've put work, time, money, listening to all the squealing, howling, trying to figure out what she's trying to tell ya! But you got this far so may as well enjoy the ride when she's purring like a kitten! 🛻 +👴👵=❤️
My how time passes. I got a lot of info here when I bought my 2000 new....25 years ago. I still have her, only 90K miles. Replaced the fuel pump about 10 years ago. Other than that just fluids, brakes and tires. My 2025 Mustang ecoboost I just got brought me back here because of the Mustang groups I'm reading now reminded me. lol 2000 XLT 5.4 and 2025 Mustang Ecoboost
