Shifter handle sloppy and hard to move
02 F150 7700. The column shifter handle is sloppy, so a quick search came up with the screws at the bottom of the column. They're tight.
The shifter is also a little hard to move. Its not an issue since I've become used to it, but the looseness means it sometimes doesn't fully engage park. That could be an issue when I find my truck parked in the front yard under my Hickory tree instead of the driveway. The slop in the shifter lever is not hard to move, only when I'm moving the actual mechanism is it hard to move.
- does anyone have a diagram for the shifter parts in the steering column?
- how would you all go about figuring out what's wrong? Things seem slop-free at the bellcrank on the trans, so I'm guessing the loose connection is in the column somewhere.
- if your answer is "install a ZF6," you're my hero and I like how you think.
