Vats bypass I need help

Ok so I just bought a 01 f150 sepercrew. I only got one key with the vehicle. It opens the doors fine but when I go to the ignition it has problems. I have to wiggle it or move the key around and play with before it actually turns. I have tried silicon spray and it didn't work. Now I know it's a chipped key. But I was thinking of buying a new door and ignition cylinder kit off eBay to replace them. Now in order to not pay the dealer to reprogram the new keys could I just zip tie the original key I have under the new key cylinder? Would that work so that I don't have to pay the dealer to reprogram the truck? Or anyway I can do this without spending a fortune? By the way 2 keys, 3 door locks and the new ignition key switch is 75 on eBay.

Least expensive option: Do a "Redneck PATS Bypass" and get non-chipped keys. Like everything "redneck", there are always drawbacks.

WD40 and other silicon sprays and oils just gum up the lock mechanism. Go to a good hardware store and get some of the powdered graphite lock lube. You can use the power or the powder that is mixed into a THIN liquid. The liquid will dry without being gummy and either will leave a think layer of DRY, powdered graphite to lubricate the lock.

Bingo on silicon, it's designed to leave a thick protective coating.

Graphite is the way to go on tight tolerances and small moving parts
