03 Died - Fuel Pump or?
2003 F150 4.6L 4x4 E/C Auto - Died while accelerating from stop, then won't start? Unfortunately it's still stuck 10 miles out of town. I'm assuming fuel pump, but I will bring my wifi/computer out next trip. Will try hitting tank again too. Anything else shut an engine down like this? Battery fine, >12.4V, alternator changed few months back. If fuel pump, it's different from my previous 2x fails of my 98 4x4 Manual which failed once engine shut off and then wouldn't restart (not while engine was running). Thoughts?
I'm on my third fuel pump.
First failed while cruising @ about 50 mph.
Second began with a series of no starts.
My factory pump lasted ten years.
The first replacement lasted six years.
The pump I put in last year has a two year warranty so, I'm livin large for the next 12 months.

There are numerous things that can cause the truck to just die, the fuel pump is just one of the possibilities.
You can either guess, rightly or wrongly, or you can do your diagnostics and determine exactly what's wrong so it can be correctly repaired the first time. It's really up to you.

Check for fuel pressure at the schrader valve also check the fuel pump relay under the hood. It should make a click sound when you first turn on the ignition. I had the same problem 2 months back. Found a Bosch 67135 on ebay with warranty for under 135.00, problem solved. But projectsho89 is right. Many things could cause this problem IE crank or cam positioning switch to name a couple. Proper diagnostics will save you alot of time and money. Good luck!
Unfortunately laptop power didn't hold, so no computer diagnostics. Relay appears to be working fine (it clicks). Changed fuel filter, turned key on, no pressure at filter. Hear minor buzz from tank, but that stops after attempting to start (cranking over). Still leaning toward fuel pump.
No fuel pressure at filter... Check the schrader valve on the passenger side fuel rail. If no pressure and the relay is working correctly then pretty likely its the pump. Like i said before. bosch 67135 on ebay for 135.00 with warranty.

You are getting good advice and may want to consider following it. No need to get into the filter at this point.
Check pressure at rail. If good, no need for a pump. look elsewhere.
If bad:
Check power at inertia switch.
If good, pump or wiring to pump.
If bad, not pump. Look for electrical issue in relay or inertia switch.

Almost started after two days, but no pressure at Schrader valve, inertia switch is pressed in (not tripped), and fuel pump fuse is ok. Ran my wifi/computer, found P0232 (fuel pump secondary circuit high). I trended my fuel pump reading on computer and it appears to turn on and off when key is on, mostly On when I'm trying to start (cranking).
Sounding like its time to order that pump. Hoping I'm not missing an electrical issue.

glad you got it fixed!

When I had my Mark VIII Lincoln and was using it to take me to and from jobs that were 550 miles to 1254 miles from home, I wanted to keep it reliable. So, I went to the NAPA store and asked in their experience how long should the electric fuel pump last because I was thinking about replacing it for preventive maintenance. They told me that they had seen pumps last 300k miles and some only lasted 30k miles and there was no way to tell how long one would last. The Lincoln had 113k miles on it when I sold it with no failure. That said my 2000 F150 5.4L went 170k miles before my buddy sold it and had no pump failure. My current 02 has 135k miles on it and the OE pump is still going. Knock on Wood!!
The last tow truck driver I had said he does a lot 'fuel pump' business and attributed it to increased use of ethanol.
Ethanol production has doubled since 2007.
My second fuel pump did have a half life of the original...
I've been the only driver for 17 years and my habits haven't changed.
I haven't even changed my socks.
