Why is my speed governor at 112mph?

I am the 2nd owner of my 1998 4.6l ford f150 and I've read everywhere that it is supposed to be governed at 97 mph but I was on a straight highway last night and wanted to see where it shut off at and I used a gps to see the speed. My grandpa (the first owner)owned the truck before me and I asked to make sure it was stock and he said it was. I had new tires put on before I drove it and they are rated for 112 mph max speed, so maybe the a people at Wal-Mart changed it? Or maybe that's a coincidence? Id like to know. Thanks

It's program defined in the PCM so Walmart nor anyone else could change it unless they have knowledge and equipment to do so.
The program version likely does not have it set if at all.
By the way, what to *ell are you doing running that fast is a truck.
Wise up.
Sorry to say it but don't do that, please.
Good luck.

It sounds like the OP is out to win the annual Darwin Award. OTOH I've done dumber things.
