97 f150 xlt 4.6 no 4wd

I dont know if this is in the right place or not. sorry... I have replaced the transfer case position switch(it was bad) as well as the gem(thought i had troubleshot it down to this) and still I am not able to get the correct signal sent to the vacuum solenoids to engage the front diff, also no dash light when shifting. This is MSOF. I have the new style solenoids coming in and intend on replacing them as they are a failure waiting to happen. I am lost as to what to do next....Help please

Have you checked Fuse #23? According to the manual it is for: 4WD clutch relay, electronic flasher, 4WD/2WD vacuum solenoids and trailer tow battery charge relay.

Did you probe the test points on top of the fuses while installed for voltage or did you pull them and ohm them out?

i checked the resistance on the top points on every fuse in both the engine and the cab. I did this while installed as well as pulling the fuses associated with 4wd to check for scorch marks or breaks in the fuses regardless of continuity.

You need to probe the top points for voltage, to rule out a problem with the contacts in the fuse box itself or a wiring issue.

fuse 23 is good. but i did find 2 other fuses that are not registering voltage??? do i start by just replacing these or are they controlled by something else like the fuses associated with the lights. they are 20 and 21.
