I recently installed a set of dual, lighted sun visors off a '01 Navigator in my '99 F-150. Not really an earth-shattering mod, but one of those small things which all add up to make the truck a little nicer.
A little background ...
It appears there were two different styles of the Expedition/Navigator dual sun visors. '97-'99 have the mounting pin off the end of the sun visor and the second sun visor is a separate piece. '00-'02 have the mounting rod towards the end of the sun visor (but not off the end) and the second sun visor is part of the main sun visor. Both of these type are the "short" sun visors meant to be used with an overhead console.
The F-150's also had two types ... '97-'99 had long sun visors ( I don't believe any '97-'99 F-150's had overhead consoles) with mounting pins off the end of the sun visor. '00-'03 had long or short sun visors ( depending on the presence of an overhead console) with mounting rods towards the end of the sun visor.
What this means ...
If you have a '97-'99 F-150 you're kind of SOL, unless you want short visors, want to add a new inner mount and want to some how deal with the original (and now unused) inner mount.
If you have a '00-'03 with a overhead console, the '00-'02 Expy/Navigator dual sun visors will bolt right in. If you don't have an overhead console, they will bolt right in ( the center mount will be in the right spot), but you'll still have short sun visors.
Waaaay more than anyone ever wanted to know about sun visors, I'm sure.
In my case, when I added the Expy overhead console to my '99, I added a set of '00-'03 short F-150 single sun visors, so the '01 Navigator sun visor I picked up bolted right in ...
Running power to the mirror lights (and Home Link) is very simple. Tap into the Light Green w/ Orange stripe wire at the dome light and run it and a ground wire up to the front of the cab and split it over to each corner of the cab. I got the factory connectors with my visors, because the hole the connector must pass through is relatively small and I don't think the aftermarket connectors I had on hand would fit through the hole.
