ignition lock cylinder 2001 f150
UPDATE
i found a used steering column with key( guy wouldnt sell separately)
i put the little transceiver on and left key in on position until the theft light stopped flashing, turned key to off then on and off again. truck started right up without having to program anything
What I meant was if I could afford to have it towed to a dealer or repair shop I would have done so!
At this point I really don't know what to do!
Should I buy a used steering column with key? Would I need to get the transceiver programmed to the Pcm ( I think that's what it's called) .
Will the truck relearn or recognize the transceiver?z( My GMC Sierra occasionally has theft deterrent non start issues but I am able to do a key relearn process and it starts afterwards)
Or do I just buy the transceiver part (the black ring with copper wires inside it) and have that programmed to Pcm then call locksmith back out to make another key and program it ?
I have checked for fuel at the fuel rail (schrader valve) fuel is there ( kinda weak spray)
I checked the fuel relay
All fuses
There is an aftermarket alarm on the truck
I do not have the factory key fob( I do have the aftermarket one) autopage
No problems at all prior to him losing the key
I Do appreciate the replies!

i had alreafy drilled out thr old ignition and put new one in called a locksmith to program and cut a newkey for the new ignition! program said complete but still no start, he said the receiver thing or antenna thats around the ignition is damaged!
should i get a whole new column with key then have it programmed?
ive read througb other threads but i still dont understand
my son lost the only key to his truck!
i purchased a new cylinder with key at autozone! i dont think its got a chip in the keys though.
after i replace with new cylinder will the truck start? without chipped key?
and how the heck do i get the old cylinder out without a sledge hammer!
its a 2001 f150 4.6 litre v8
thanks in advance for ANY help or advice given!

#4 in the first post of the link above describes how to remove the lock cylinder ...
Unfortunately, with PATS you're most likely stuck either finding the key or towing the truck to Ford.

Another option is to rekey everything and use a PCM from an appropriate Super Duty as they didn't get PATS until later, or have a tuner remove PATS from your existing PCM. If you go that route, you will have an annoying theft light blink.
Best bet is finding a good locksmith, or the key.

Sorry for wasting your precious time. I know how to fix it, but I don't waste my time on the ungrateful.
Sorry Zach, I think your mom is going to have to sell the truck.

What was a waste of time was drilling out the lock cylinder. You broke the receiver ring when you did so.
