silly e-brake release cable

I searched and could not seem to find mention of it...

Does anyone have a source (Other than Ford) for the e-brake release cable? Ford quoted me $147 for the assembly. All I need is the little cable. The handle side barrel separated from the cable, and my "fix" is not strong enough to hold.

OR does anyone have a better idea?

Thanks,
Mike

The short cable on the driver's side isn't that expensive as I remember. I replaced mine a while back. The cable that goes to the passenger side is much longer and is over a hundred bucks.

Roadie, he's looking for the release cable - isn't that a short one inside the cab that goes from the pull handle to the ratchet mechanism on the pedal?

glc, I realized that after I posted. It doesn't look like rockauto has it. However, their catalog allows you to search using the Ford part number. So, if you have that, you just might be able to find it.

fixed...

$12 in hardware...2 cable stops and some bicycle brake cable from the local bicycle repair place and problem solved. If I would have had the stuff in my garage...would have been free.

Thanks for the replies.
